You see I've just supposedly recovered from a virus, I've formatted C drive and I've run Spy Doctor, AVG and Ad-Aware SE and deleted other viruses and spyware which has been found. But certain programs crash often , causing the system to crash or making the program unusable coz of the constant crashing, such examples being MSN Messenger and Ad-aware even  But yea ever since the format, my computer has been rather unstable if anyone has any advice on how to fix it, It would be greatly appreiciated ^_^

Well This is the 2nd time I've installed Windows so yea perhaps it's hardware relatated but it's odd everything was fine before the virus. But all my scanners claim all virus threats have been removed. =S

 If you have certain programs that are crashing, then maybe they were damaged by the virus and you need to uninstall/reinstall them. Get a good clean up program to get rid of the fragments left behind.

When you re-installed did you also install the motherboard chipset drivers as systems can become unstable without these?

have you installed all the latest hardware drivers ?

also did you install all security apps before connecting to the internet? and was first port of call windows update to get any SP & updates?

Well I've tried repairing the windows installion just now. It repaired.... But ....no dice...
I can sometimes temporarily restore some stableness by doing chkdsk /C and /F from time to time. But then it's only a matter of time before it dies again.

It's interesting because the same issues in chkdsk come up again and again and again..

Have you installed the Chipset Drivers and all adn any updated drivers once the OS was installed/re-installed?

What issues are highlighted in chldsk?

Yup I've installed the Chipset drivers and the errors in chkdsk sometimes says
'Correcting errors in Volume bitmap.' and 'recovering files.' or 'recovering orphaned file.' and then a file name following it. I don't exactly understand it. But yea it says something like that and thne it requests i do chkdsk /F.
Yet I've used Norton Disk Doctor to check for bad sectors and after the scan it tells me there is nothing wrong with my HDD. BUt from time to time, i got numerous Virus warnings from AVG, and although i delete the viruses using AVG again and again, they come back... =_= And i've dug around Registry but the files that show up as viruses are not listed, although i did find something called 'mouse.exe' Which was classed as a virus, although I didn't remove it from registry because i wasn't sure what it did. But yea any help would be greatly appreiciated. ^_^
