    Help!

I had a virus about a week ago and I thought that I had removed everything but I was wrong. I can't access any anti-virus sites, my windows restore doesn't work and neither does my anti-virus software. I followed all your recommended steps and this is my last option. I'm hoping that this problem can be fixed.

    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!

I should probably mention that I can't access bitdefender or panda.
I ran housecall in safe mode and it did not find anything wrong.

    thanks.

Is there a reason you did not run Windows Defender from the READ & RUN ME procedure? If so, you should have used CounterSpy as requested and then attached the log from CounterSpy. So run one of them now and if it is CounterSpy, attach the log.

    Now please do the below!

Download HOSTER and then follow the below steps.
    • Unzip Hoster to a convenient folder such as C:\Hoster
    • Run Hoster.exe, click Restore Original Hosts and then click OK.
    • Click the X to exit the program
Let's get an installed programs list from HijackThis too!
    • Run HijackThis, click Open the Misc Tools section
    • Click Open Uninstall Manager
    • Click Save List (generates uninstall_list.txt)
    • Click Save, to save it to a file where you can find it.
    • Attach the uninstall_list.txt file to your next message.
Now Run the below procedure and attach the runkeys.txt log.

You have Limewire 4.10.9 installed. The most current version of Limewire is reported to include spyware. LimeWire 4.9.28 is clean. Older and newer version may not be! You should uninstall this.

You also have Messenger Plus! 3 , did you see what was mentioned about this program in step 0 of the READ ME? Did you decide that you are keeping it anyway?

You did not need to run both Windows Defender and CounterSpy. Only one of them was necessary. However since you installed it, did you save a log from CounterSpy that you can attach? If so, please attach the log. Did you allow it to fix what it found?

    Download MsnVirRem.exe to your desktop.
    • First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
    • Double click MsnVirRem.exe to run it
    • Once open, click the button labeled Search and Destroy Your computer will now be scanned for Infected Files
    • When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
    • Now click the REBOOT Button.
    • After the Reboot, you will receive file not found errors! Please acknowledge them and continue.
    • A Message should popup from MsnVirRem if not, double click the program again and it will finish.
    • Please Post the contents of C:\msnvirrem.log
Now run HijackThis to get a new log.

    Hi again,

I uninstalled Limewire. I was wondering if you know of a better music downloading program or if you know where I can download older versions of the program.

Also, I read what was mentioned about Messenger Plus!. I decided to keep it anyways because I chose not to install the adware bundle that comes with it.

I ran Counterspy and it found quite a bit of infections and I allowed it to fix everything but I was unable to find a log file.

    Thank you sooo much.

Actually in this forum, we do not recommend using any P2P programs since they are all security risks and it is somewhat contrary to what we are trying to do here. You can check out the programs listed at Spyware Info's Clean and Infected File Sharing Programs

Your log is clean other than a few minor items to fix. Have HijackThis fix the below:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Are you still having any malware problems?
