unable to boot

I discovered a virus on my family laptop. I ran AVG 9.0, CCleaner and was unable to get rid of it. then when rebooting I tried system restore. I selected the option that did not wipe the hard disk but created a backup. (I dont have my pictures backed up, cause I am lazy. bad me). I now get a message NTLDR is compressed. press CTRL_ALT_DEL to restart, which gets me back to the same place. I put the original gateway disk in, and I have the same options, tried the same thing again, no result. basicly my hope was to restart in safe mode, but I cant restart in any mode now. any ideas?
