Cannot defrag (C:) drive, message states that defrag has been aborted due to inconsistencies detected in filesystem. I have run a CHKDSK as suggested but cannot find SCANDISK to run it. Any ideas I would be very grateful, I am computer lit but not very techy so please fo easy. Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to MG's, mistermlouse ....when you open my coputer/ right click on the c drive / choose properties / tools / check disc will give you two options to scan and repair ....have you done that? Am requesting that your post be moved to the software section.:)

We could do with more info about your PC. What operating system, RAM, what capacity hard drive, what hard drive free space, etc. How often do you carry out pC housekeeping, etc.

Check out Everest from major geeks.

    Everest Home Edition. www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
When you run EVEREST, Click on "Computer" icon, then on "Summary", then on "Report" (at top menu), then on "Quick Report Summary", down to "Plain text". Save it to a file, as whatever name you like, (maybe PCddmmyy--with ddmmyy being the current date). Then it can be posted for all to see.
PS: Scroll down the report and delete all the stuff starting with Offset, to reduce the size of the report. Bazza

Thanks guys, seems to be working at the moment but i will keep it in mind just in case. If i get another odd message (Dll) i will print the screen and try and post it for you all to see, at the moment i don't know how to add or paste anything to the thread so i will have to read up on it. Thanks anyway you are all great. Mistermouse
