Unable to install Antispyware programs

    I am working through the READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support process. The on-line virus and spyware scans at Bitdefender and Trend are coming up clean. However, I am unable to install CCleaner, HiJackThis, Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy or Microsoft Antispyware. When trying to install any of these programs I get the message: "<PROGRAM Name Here> has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I can run other programs like NTBackup and Word with no problems. Any ideas to get these install working?

    Can you install anything on the PC? Try another program that is not so closely related to the malware removal world. Try the below:

    ExplorerXP

    Does it install? If not, try installing it after booting in safe mode? Does that work?
