Unable To Install Set Up File

Hi,
I am more than relieved.
Image has been done & i wont be trying to update it again.

I have also found 3 good pieces of software for deleting files etc that i will now keep & use.
Geek Uninstaller, Revo Unistaller & Iobit.

Many thanks for all your advice & input for this,its been a real long week trying to sort this out.

Just an update.
This software is still working fine and many thanks for the advice.

One thing I’ve noticed.
The hard drive light seems to be very active.
I’ve only got chrome open and it very busy. Noticed it a couple of days now.
Doing alt ctrl delete I can see under processes Chrome.exe say 8 times.
Shouldn’t there be just 1 ?

Also when I deleted the virtual drive that we set up to check things out I assume that when it was deleted it then also delete/cleaned up the xp system that I had installed, I actually did this twice for two different virtual drives etc.

Just a thought.

 

That's normal. If I just open Firefox to my home page I get six, some no doubt due to the add-ins I use.

Again normal. When you set up a VM some memory and some disk space is allocated to it. When you remove the VM both are returned to the host system and are free for it to use. However, like any deleted file, most of the info is still actually in place but invisible to the host and will progressively get overwritten. If that's a problem then use a disk wiper to clean up free space. CCleaner has one.

Could be just defragging itself. Looking at Processes might shed some light on it.
