I installed kubuntu 8.04.1 to an old laptop I have and spent the last couple of days trying to install my verizon wireless air card (usb 720) to it. I was finally sucessful today. I connected and when I tried to go to the internet using the browser that comes with kubuntu 8041 I kept getting the message "unable to locate or load HTTP://www.yahoo.com or HTTP://www.google.com or any other website. Yet I was able to download and install the updates that were indicated. Has anyone encountered this and what is the resolution? Thanks. By the way this air card is my only means of internet access. I've had it for a long time and it worked flawlessly with xp pro.

This is more common than not.

Here is a thread on the Ubuntu Forums that may help.

Another thread on configuring card. You have it working, but you may find some step missed in this thread.
    :cool
