Unable to remove virus/spyware

Hello,
I am not at all a computer savvy person, but a friend told me about this site.

Problem:
I all of a sudden started getting strange occurances on my PC. My home page was changed, favorites were added, getting popups, and my wallpaper dissappeared and it is just a white screen with the icons now. i followed sthe procedures on the website like it said to do, but I still have problems. I got my home page back, and the favorites being added and popups have seemd to stop. What I have left now is just a white screen with icons and the machine moves extremely slow. I am posting my hijackthis log hoping somebody can review.

Also, in case it becomes a question, I do not know why my pc says I have SP1, I have run Windows Update and have been told I am SP2, but it never shows up that way?

 

Additionally, I am unable to get Spybot to run.

I have noticed a file in Task Manager called wuauclt.exe.

When I googled it I got conflicting info. whether it is or is not a trojan.

 

Do not post a HijackTHis log until it is requested. HijackThis logs ae always posted as attacments, never pasted into the post. Your HijackThis log shows no signs of having a malware infection.

SP2 probably failed to install correctly. Using Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel uninstall SP2 add reinstall.

What do you mean your homepage changed, unexpectedly. Your Start page is Adelphia.net. Did you recently change ISPs?

 

Sorry for not following the guidelines. First time poster

When I say my homepgae changed. I mean it no longer was going to adelphia but instead to a spyware page that wanted me to download software. But when I ran the scans as suggested that problem went away. My home page is fine now.

I know that two of the files that were removed were:
shnlog.exe
intmon.exe

It seems that the only problem that remains is my desktop. My wallpaper will not come up. When I boot up I get a blue background with my icons, then the background goes all white. Pc is extremely slow.

I saw a file in Task Manager called wuauclt.exe that I understand may be a trojan?

And I could never get spybot to run.
