Unable to update sound driver

I am trying to update my audio driver in order to troubleshoot a game crash. I currently have sound and it's working fine. I am using a dell dimension e510 with windows xp sp3. I have tried to download from the dell site but I keep getting the wrong driver. Here is my everest report:

Download

1.Click Download Now, to download the file.
2.When the File Download window appears, click Save (Windows XP
users will click Save) this program to disk and click OK. The Save In:
window appears.
3.From the Save In: field, click the down arrow then click to
select Desktop and click Save. The file will download to your desktop.
4.If the Download Complete window appears, click Close. The file
icon appears on your desktop.

Install

1.Double-click the new icon on the desktop labeled R114282.EXE.
2.The Self-Extracting window appears and prompts you to extract or
unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R114282. Write down this path so the executable (I.e.
Setup.exe) file can be found later.
3.The Self-Extractor window appears.
4.Click OK.
5.After completing the file extraction, if the Self-Extractor
window is still open, close it.
6.Click the Start button and then click Run.
7.Type C:\DELL\DRIVERS\R114282 in the Open textbox and then click OK.
8.Follow the on-screen installation instructions.

I downloaded this driver via the link you posted. I believe this was the same driver I have tried already. It downloads successfully, and begins to install but then I get a popup that says "This is not the correct driver for this system." and the installer closes.

Ok.. I need for you to download and install, but do not run yet driversweeper....

uninstall your audio driver from device manager and add/remove programs.

Restart your machine in SAFEMODE (f8 at boot).

YOU MUST ONLY COMPLETE THESE STEPS IN SAFEMODE.

Run Driversweeper and in the main window you will see some driver options on the righthand side, you need to select the ones with sound ie... Realtek/Sigmatel click "analyze" then click "clean" please run the clean button twice. Restart your machine into windows click out of any found new hardware prompts and install these drivers here....
