Called Belkin was walked through reinstallation of router. No fix. Can't install any virus protection. Windows firewall disable won't turn on. Laptop and PS3 still work on the network with no porblems. Unplugged PC incased virus or spyware. Any ideas.

    Hi

By Essentials I guess you mean Microsoft Security Essentials? just double checking as could be any application.

But do run the Norton Removal Tool HERE and then reboot and re-install Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 again.

What Service Pack is your Vista at?

Service pack 1 on Vista. I followed the program unistall properly. After Norton was removed I left it PC stand alone for a couple of days. I ran a malware program that didn't pick up anything. But I tried to install Microsoft Securitry Essentials and the program starts the install process and a warning pops up saying I need to restart the computer becuase the program failed to install properly. I restart and run the program again and the same warning pops up.
