Uninstall Flash Player

First, apologies if a thread has already dealth with this. I ran a search which came back with zero hits!

I want to uninstall Flash Player. I know how to do it. I want to do it because I have read it is no longer supported and it is better to uninstall it.

What I wanted to ask is what will happen to web browsers and other software that use it? Will it prevent them working correctly? Do I need to install something else in its place? Alternatively, should everything continue to work properly once I have uninstalled it?
