uninstall internet explorer

I have windows8..I want to uninstall ie. I do not see and uninstall in Control Panel, nor do I see on in the internet explorer in Programs. Can it be uninstalled? How do I do it?

Because Internet Explorer is a Windows feature, you can't uninstall it, but you can turn it off.

Here's how to "turn off" Internet Explorer 11:

(1) Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.)

(2) Enter Windows features in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Turn Windows features on or off.

(3) In the Windows Features dialog box, clear the Internet Explorer 11 check box.

You can't, but you don't have to use it either. Have to say, as a long time Chrome and Firefox user, I'm finding the latest IE11 to be just as good as either.

 

Suffice to say microsoft has various ways for making you suffer if you go medieval on IE's ***.

Basically you're better off ignoring it.

In the case you MUST prevent everybody from using it - just password protect it, but that shouldn't be the case if you remove all the shortcuts and have another default browser.

And anybody else who would know how to launch it at that point should be smart enough to use other browsers.
