Uninstall Nvidea/Install MS IDE Driver

    Gang, what's the best way to get rid of the Nvidia IDE SW driver and replace it with the MS version? Can I just do a roll back from the device manager or do I need to remove it from add/remove software in the control panel. If I do the later, on reboot, will the MS driver be installed? I want to get it straight as I know Nvidia drivers can be fitful. I'm not running raid, so it's not needed and I think doing that will solve some issues. Thanks all.

    Hi

    Did you have the original MS driver installed before installing the Nvidia one, of so then yes you can use driver rollback.

    Hi Halo, no, I don't think I did but I'm not sure. If I roll back and there is no windows driver, can I just roll back to the Nvidea driver? If there is no Windows driver and I uninstall the Nvidia driver, will the ide windows driver be installed on reboot? Thanks.

    Its most likely that on install of XP, the default MS driver would have been installed for the hardware, no matter which way round you go a driver will be installed, be it the MS one or as the Nvidia setup .inf file will be in the driver database now that one maybe re-installed.

    What issues are you having as the best drivers are normally always the manufacturers drivers?

    Halo, BSODs during error checking and somewhat of a long boot time (on the Welcome screen). I guess it won't hurt to try. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know how it turns out.
