Uninstall problem AVG Trial

Hi everyone,

My daughter has a Acer Aspire one netbook. I have brought Kaspersky internet security for 3 pc's which I have downloaded to my Dell and wanted to put onto hers but she downloaded an AVG free trial a few months ago and we are having major problems trying to uninstall it so we can put the Kaspersky on hers.

We've done the normal in the start/ Control Panel, add & remove programs, and uninstalled the Avg but it has never gone away.
We've gone into the task manager to try and delete it from there without success.
Tried restoring to a point before AVG was downloaded but it won't go back past that date.

Lots of forums talk about downloading cleaners to help uninstall programs but not sure how safe they are or how they work??

Any help would be appreciated. Im not very PC friendly so please explain in idiots terms. lol

My husband tried to do a partail restore which supposed to save my daughters stuff but now it won't reload and is saving un unexpected shut down occured or a error occured and windows cannot restart. It says what to do to retify it by going to the start menu but it wont load the start up process so we don't seem to be able to do anything at all.
I'm devasted....
Please can anyone talk us through step by step or should it be sent to a shop for repair?
We could do with a memory stick with the windows 7 data on it to install it again if that is possible??
