uninstall windows media player

can anyone tell me how to uninstall windows media player

im running windows xp home

i want to uninstall it and reinstall a earler version
or mabey a third party product

does anyone have any good third party media players?
i have quicktime already and dont want real player

 

There is no good way to uninstall windows media player 9. The best solution is to revert to an old restore point which you have. But if it's been a long time since you've installed it you may not like that option.

There may be some thrid party software to remove it but MS does not offer any support for uninstalling WMP9 and I've tried doing it by hand once. It's extremely difficult. If you don't have a restore point to get rid of it for you I just suggest you leave it there and install a diffrent media program and stop using WMP.

Although to be perfectly honest I don't see why you'd want to revert back to WMP8. I've never really seen any problems with WMP9.

Unless of course you install that leaked WMP10 beta and what to get rid of it, but even if that's the case using a system restore point is your best bet.

 

Click 'Start', 'Run', type
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\wmp.inf,Uninstall

hit enter

better yet just copy and paste the information on the run box

I use Winamp, with Real, and Media Player. I don't know why I use them all!
