uninstalling and installing anti-virus

    How Do I safely uninstall and install anti-virus? Same procedure for firewalls as well?

    Are you running XP? If so, uninstall them from the Start>Control Panel>Add and Remove Programs menu.

    Then run a registry cleaner like CCleaner before installing a new AV or firewall

    To install simply select one from this list in the relevant section from the link below and download. Open the .exe file you download by double clicking it and then follow the instructions given.

    Also, always turn them off from the tray then follow up by ctrl + alt + del to open task manager to be sure no process is still running before you try to uninstall.

    In addition to the above, most firewalls / antiviruses require it however if it dosen't. Its still a very wise move to restart your computer before and after installing any antivirus.
