Uninstalling "Deal Info"

    Good Morning All,

I have newbie type questions. :confused

I've noticed that I have an entry in my "Add/Remove Program" list labeled "Deal Info". No size is given and I have no idea of when this appeared, though I am sure it must've popped up within the last 3 weeks - I got the all clear through the Malware forum and I reviewed my logs and didn't see it there.

I've used the Search function to find "Deal Info" and nothing shows up.

I've tried to uninstall, and a Window dialog box pops up, stating that "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM...Insert the 'Deal Info' disk and click OK."

I have no idea what this program is, where it is located, where it came from, etc.

The only thing that I can think of (that may help?) is that I deleted a folder from LANDesk Management that I no longer needed, used a registry cleaner to clean out the bits, and recently installed Adobe Illustrator.

Any ideas? Should I be worried? How do I find out where/when it came from? How can I get rid of it (or did I screw up something?)

    Many thanks in advance.

If you did a search and nothing shows up, then it is an orphaned entry in your add/remove list.
You can a) ignore it or b) fire up CCleaner, click the tools button, then add/remove and then remove the entry from add/remove programs.

    Plodr,

    Thanks for the reply.

I tried to use the "Delete Entry" function in CCleaner, and "Cannot delete MSI installer" comes up.

I click "Run Uninstaller" in CCleaner and the same windows box pops up, and when I cancel (because I don't have the CD) another box pops up that states, "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again.

    An update:

This might help - I found that it is in the registry -
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer\Features\F639CEE...291

I am going to assume something was deleted when I ran my registry cleaner. Is this correct? Did I foul up my computer? If so, can I undo the damage?

    Thanks again for your time.

Sorry, but I have no way of knowing what \Features\F639... in your registry refers to.

I'm not quite sure why the MSI installer pops up when you are trying to delete Deal Info.

    Plodr,

Thanks for giving this some thought...

I had made a registry back-up before I used the cleaner, but not before I deleted the LANDesk folder.

Would restoring that prior registry help?

    Just throwing that out there.

    Thanks again.
