I'm trying to uninstall Real Player. It says there is an uninstall component missing and won't go away.

I tried installing the latest version and then uninstalling that, but that still doesn't get rid of the old one.

Revo uninstaller and Mcafee uninstaller won't do it.

Anyone have any ideas how I can get rid of it?

    Thanks

Sometimes you can get things done in Safe Mode that can't be done in normal mode.

    Hi

If safe mode doesn't work (which would be a great first step), I would recommend Googling for a download of the exact version you are trying to install, re-installing THAT version, then uninstalling it, and then running Revo.

I tried Safe mode, but that didn't help.

When I went to open Realplayer to see what version it was for a re-install, I can't find it. I have all kinds of "Real" folders with all kinds of realplayer stuff in them, but the only .exe files I can find are "Realplayer11gold.exe". Four of them. None of them run. Realplayer is not in my programs list from the Start menu.

When I try to delete the Real folders my computer tells me I don't have permission. It's a good job the window was closed. The one to the outside.

So, most important question, how can I get my PC to let me delete any folder I want?(I'm the only username)

Then, how can I find out what version of Realplayer is the one in the Control Panel-Programs, that I can't uninstall? If I can reinstall that version I assume the missing component will be reinstalled too.

Thanks a lot for your help on this.

Unlocker is a small, free, and powerful software that lets you see which process is holding the lock on the file/folder and then helps you unlock it. After Installing this software you can simply right click the file/folder that is giving “Access is Denied” or “File May Be In Use” errors and then click on Unlocker.

A new window will now pop-up showing the processes as shown below. Now you can either unlock all of the processes or kill the process.

On the left of the ‘Kill Process’ button there is a dropdown menu where you can select Copy, Move, Rename, or Delete functions for a locked file.

    Hello,
Did you try and uninstall using the free version of Revo. The Pro version has something called Forced Uninstall that the freeware version lacks. The Pro version can be used for 30 days without restrictions. But, be sure to read the documentation on Forced Uninstall.

FileHippo has older versions of RealPlayer including V11 but there are many versions and those are not the Gold version which I believe was a paid for version. You can find your version by going to Help>about
