Is it okay to simply uninstall the wireless client for the wireless adapter and use the wireless auto config of win xp instead? Are there any conditions required before uninstalling the client like the win xp service pack or the manufacturer of the wireless adapter? Doesn't uninstalling the wireless client uninstall the adapter drivers as well? How would i know when to use WPA instead of WEP?

No matter what upgrade to Win XP SP2.

In some Brands, uninstalling the Original Utility would uninstall the Drivers of the Wireless Client as well.

Solution? Look at the Start Up and the Running process and disable the Brand Startup entry and or the service that it initiates.

These two programs can help in the process,

In addition these Utilities might disable WZC, so you would need to set it to Auto Start.

As long as the Utility etc, do not load you can leave them sitting on the Hard Drive (who knows they might be useful in a rainy day.

Cat5 is right, you should upgrade to SP2 if you havent already.

You don't really need to "uninstall" the utility that came with the wireless card. All you need to do is stop it from running and enable the Windows utility.
