Unseen HDD

    I have had to do a win XP reinstall, and cannot understand why my slave HDD cannot be seen in My Computer, but can be seen in Device Manager, and states that it is working successfully....pls help...

    Right click My Computer, select Manage. Then double click Storage; double click Disk Management. This will give you a list of all drives attached to the PC and the status of these drives and whether or not they've been partitioned, formatted, assigned a drive letter, etc. It could be that your slave drive has not been partitioned or formatted correctly and/or hasn't been assigned a drive letter. Right click on the bold print where it says Disk 0 or Disk 1 or whatever. This allows you to initialize the drive if needed. Or you can right click in the area where it shows the drive size and partition/format the drive and/or assign it a letter. For more info:

    Thanks dlb, will try after work tonight.
    Note this has been formatted, and been in use for ~1 year already as a slave, and is full of data.....a re-format is UNDESIRED.

    LKike to close these out, so others can view fixes etc.
    Thansk dlb, your instructions worked a treat, all i had to do was access the disk management, and right click and "import foreign disk".....job done!
