Unspecified Error When Clicking in Text Box

I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 with all the latest up-dates installed. Whenever I try to access a USER ACCOUNT to make a change, such as change name, change picture, or delete a user account; I am immediately returned an "Unspecified Error" message. I cannot access any info on a User Account, whether I am logged on as Administrator or whatever. What could be the problem and how can I correct it?

The first thing I'd suggest is to run a system file check:

Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
At the command prompt, type the following line: sfc /scannow and then press ENTER.
When the scan is complete, reboot and see if your symptoms have changed.

I'm on a Win 7 machine, and I can't remember if XP has the ability to run an elevated command prompt - if you're logged in as an administrator, you should already be elevated.

This might not solve your problem, but it's a good starting point.
