Why am I getting the "Unsupported Hardware" in win 7 updates when I have a FX6300 processor? I thought this only affected the Bristol Ridge processors.
    Thanks,
    Dan

Please tell us the exact brand name and full model number of your system and what Windows 7 version it is - home, pro, ultimate and whether it is 32 bit or 64 bit.
If you have a screenshot of the exact warning please post that.
Using the free program 'Speccy' please post a focussed screen shot of the first page called 'Summary'.

Yes I did! The FX6300 is a Piledriver (Vishera) processor that came out in 2012. It's not a
    • AMD seventh (7th)-generation (“Bristol Ridge") processor or a later generation
    • So whats your point?

    Max, you've met your match.

This was an issue back in May. Do you update Windows regularly?

Yes pretty regularly. As I remember, I had this problem around the time the April updates came out. I uninstalled the offending update and all was well. until last months updates. I usually follow Susan Bradley's Patch Watch and update as recommended.
Could this be the problem? This is from Susan's June 15 Patch Watch,
    Windows 7 KB4022719
This month’s KB4022719 finally fixes a longstanding issue for users who have an AMD Carrizo DDR4 processor and have been unable to install updates. Perform the following steps:

    • Download KB4022719 from Microsoft update catalog.
    • Extract the CAB file from the downloaded .msu file from the first step. Note the path where you stored the CAB file for use in the final step.
    • Run the DISM /Online /Add-Package command to install the update: DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath: CAB file path from the above location.
Personally I think some other more automated fixit should be built to solve this issue as asking an impacted customer to find this information and run the DISM to install the update on is asking quite a bit from Microsoft’s customer base.

This month’s Windows 7 updates also includes the following fixes:

    • Addressed issue where, after installing KB3164035, users cannot print enhanced metafiles (EMF) or documents containing bitmaps rendered out of bounds using the BitMapSection(DIBSection) function.
    • Addressed issue where updates were not correctly installing all components and would prevent them from booting.

If you're running that old of an OS with far newer hardware expect this experience. W7 is an older kernel.

    Wait, got that backwards.

Do you have a reliable restore point or image?

I am all so running windows 7 with all the latest updates on a newer laptop. And not getting any type of error message like that.

I would recommend on using Driver Booster 4 to see if any of your drivers are out of date.

Windows 7 turned 8 in July. Pretty old for a kernel these days.
