Hi. I had my laptop connected to my TV via a VGA cable so I could watch films on the TV. Until recently this worked fine. But about a week ago it stopped working. I'm using a Compaq Presario A900 Notebook series and the OS is Windows Vista.

    Hi

Have you updated any drivers, especially the VGA one of late?

I would access the Screen Resolution settings and lower it one step and see if you can connect then to the TV, its as if the laptops screen is higher resolution than that of the TV.

Check the refresh rate also, lower that too, to see if it helps any

I haven't updated the driver, and I doubt anyone else has (it's the family laptop but I'm the only one that does all the upgrading).

I've lowered the resolution right down to 800x600 and it still didn't work.

The refresh rate is set at 60 and I can't see how to adjust it.

    Hello,
Does it still do it if you boot into safe mode? Also, do you have an extra VGA cable you could substitute?
