Hey all. For the past month or so, I've been getting issues with an installation program that installs something called PSPrinters08.

Every time I start up the computer, the windows installer will pop up after my desktop shows up saying that it's preparing to install PSPrinters08. I cancel it every time, but it keeps popping up a few more times afterwards (about eight or nine times) before it finally goes away.

I googled it, and I found that it was some sort of printer or printer accesory or something like that that was used by Adobe products.

Now I don't know how it got onto my computer in the last month or two; I don't think it's got anything to do with a virus or trojan, though I've got no doubt that I could be wrong. We DID install a new printer (an HP Photosmart, I think...); could that be it?

Anyway, any help is greatly appreciated.

I unstalled an Adobe 7 update yesterday and now have exactly the same thing happening. It is most annoying.  On startup the install window comes up and I have to crtl-alt-del to get to the task manager to end program. I've searched the pathway from where the setup is supposed to be and it does not exist. The printer which the computer is trying to install is PSPrinters08

Weird. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

    gandhi,

I solved it but have no idea why this is so...I found this reference...
I finally fixed the problem by uninstalling "hp deskjet printer preload" from "Add/Remove Programs". Have no idea what it's for, but
I read elsewhere that it's not needed

So I did that and restarted my machine and the pesky damn thing went no longer came up.

Worth a try. I have no idea if this will screw up anything else, My regular printer still works.

If I'm right, that should've been a program that had preloaded configurations of printers. It made it possible to install a printer without using the installation CD.

I THINK that's the one you're talking about, anyway.

If it is, then it's not the problem I'm having. I'd already deleted that program (had the same idea as you :) ), but it didn't do anything to change the computer. So I'm glad at least you've got your problem solved.

    Me, I'm still quite

This may or may not fix your issue:

    Download:

    Windows installer cleanup utility:

    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459

install/run this app, and select the program that is causing this issue. Hope this helps.

I tried that last night, and it worked perfectly. Thanks very much, thefool.

Just as a note, does anyone here KNOW what PSPrinters08 is?

Thanks! Worked for me as well.

One of those aggravating computer issues designed to keep us always "on guard" and marginally annoyed with our computers. Love 'em AND hate 'em at the same time. :)

    Thanks again!

Having same problem with "PSPRINTERS08". Worked for hours with HP no success. Per this site suggestion I have installed the Windows Cleanup program but not sure as exactly what to remove - remove 'PSPrinters 08" ?

Uninstalling HP Printer Preload work for me also. Thanks for the help. I hated that running after every startup.

Hi. I used your suggestion to stop getting the unwanted messages to install PSPrinters08. That suggestion was to uninstall HP Deskjet printer preload. It was an easy fix and solved a very aggravating situation.

Can't tell you how wonderful it was to find you on Google and solve the problem mentioned above. Thank you very much.

Now what do you think about this? Upon clicking on a shortcut to get to my e-mail, an Internet Options dialog box appears with something about cookies already highlighted. Fortunately, one click on the Red X and the box goes away, but it's a mystery that wasn't occurring until the "preload" thing was uninstalled.
