If you can connect to to the internet on that PC then your network driver will be ok, is problem could be something else with Windows Live Messenger, and does messenger give you any errors? if so what and full error code?

When you open Messneger click Tools > Options > Connection and click the Start button under Connection Troubleshooter, do you get any error messages as to why it will not connect?

A likely cause is your software firewall if you have one installed? so disable it to test or enter its applications settings and make sure Windows Live Messenger has access.





To find the correct drivers if they are needed then the full model number of the PC will be needed like HP Pavilion 4561EA etc and to aid in the finding of this info you can use the likes of Everest summary log of your PC can help, to do this

Install Everest and run
Click Report (top menu) > Report Wizard > Next
Choose All Pages > Next
Choose Plain Text > Finish and wait for report to generate
Click Save to File and leave the File Name as Report, then click the Save as Type dropdown and choose Report files (*txt) and click Save (n.b. Save to desktop is best as easy place to find it, use Browse to locate desktop)


Do NOTE that some parts of this report may have information on your email address and IP address, edit these out and resave the text doc before attaching
