Update on the nieces and nephews

For those of you who remember, my niece and her husband adopted three children about 18 months ago who had been living in a, shall we say, not good family. She just sent me pictures of their first day at school, so I thought I'd share. Our oldest girl just turned six, our boy will be five in March, and our baby girl just turned three. When they came to live with my niece, they were four, two, and four months.

It has been one of the most amazing and heartwarming journeys I've ever had the great good fortune to witness, seeing these three blossom into children in every sense of the word. They giggle, they play jokes, they get into stuff, they drive us nuts, they spontaneously give hugs and kisses and demand to snuggle in our laps...compared to when we first got them and they wouldn't look at or talk to anyone unless they absolutely had to. It pretty much always makes me cry to think about how fortunate we all are to have them in our lives, and how wonderful it is that in this instance, the system actually worked as it was supposed to. :heart

A heartwarming result to what was as i remember was a traumatic time in the beginning.

Thank you all! I'm usually not much into the whole thing where at Christmas people tell the warm fuzzy stories, but then I've never been living one before. :-D

 

Oh wow. She just posted 114 pictures of Christmas morning on Facebook. I laughed, I cried...I immediately stole a bunch of them. LOL
