    Update or malware first?

My Asus V-series P5G33 stops after some time in Win 10. Kubuntu runs just fine. I have tested the memory, using a Kubuntu CD, over a long time, and no problem found with the memory.

This happened after an upgrade a couple of years ago. I just have not had the time to look into the problem earlier.

I found that if I start the PC in Safe Mode, it seems to run fine. However, I have not tested it under stress.

My question is - should I try upgrading in Safe mode, or should I start and run the malware procedure first?

I'm looking at a manual here.

This is a bare bones system from 2007. It supports a maximum of 4 GB DDR2 RAM.
Windows 10 will crawl on an old system and with so little RAM and running an OS it was not designed for.
    These are the CPUs supported
    The motherboard comes with a surface mount LGA775 socket designed for the Intel® Core2 Quad / Intel® Core2 Extreme / Core2 Duo / Pentium®Extreme / Pentium® D/ Pentium® 4 processors.
There was a BIOS update in 2009 that supports newer CPUs

The OSes listed are XP and Vista.

On the ASUS download site the choices for drivers are :
    XP 32 and 64 bit
    Vista 32 and 64 bit
    Windows Server 2000
    Linux 64 bit
    Netware
    DOS

The limit for the RAM is four 2 GB DDR2 - so I have 8 GB.

Thank you - done that, upgraded GE Force GT 710, and some minor issues in Safe Mode.

When I tried installing (normal mode) GeForce Experience, the PC "froze" - saying "Windows does not react" (I have a Norwegian version, so the words may be a little different).

The mouse arrow is the only thing working. Other than that, a "hard" restart is the only way out.

Then I checked in Safe Mode - all issues corrected. Then I go to normal mode, and find that GeForce experience is installed.

So I tried updating - and after a while I find only a black screen and the mouse arrow. No reaction to keyboard.

However, the Wi-Fi adapter keeps blinking in a way that may suggest downloading, so I'll just try letting the PC run its own way over night and see what, if anything is changed.

Are you installing correct versions for your card from a trustworthy server?
Where did you get the Norwegian version from?
