Update Problems

Hi All

Just signed up here and wonder if anyone could help me.

I'm unable to install updates from Microsoft. There is always one update to install yet when I click install it says

The following updates could not be installed.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 express edition Service Pack 3 (KB955706)

Also it's interfering when I shut down which takes forever because its trying to instal one update.

Hello, 99newbie :wave Are you on a dial-up connection? Do you use a web accelerator? The reason I ask, is because I got those same errors, and I am on a dial-up w/web accelerator, and I have to disable teh web accelerator when I visited the site. Still do! Large updates were a bear too, on dial-up, but are pretty good with Auto Updates. Have you turned on Auto Updates? Might want to give that a try, and see if they get picked up. If not, contact Microsoft, at the "contact us" button. Helped me, and after it was all said and done, all I had to do, was disable the web accelerator, then the updates would download and install, then enable it..

If you are on hi-speed, I would suggest to contact Microsoft, at he "contact us" and see if they have a fix for that error.

Thank you TeeCee for your response. I'm on hi-speed cable and get Automatic updates but this little bugger persists on being there and I can't get rid of it.
I wonder if it had something to do with me uninstalling the Microsoft Office 60 day trial program?

Hi 99newbie, I doubt if that has anything to do with the Updates. Usually, it is some glitch in the Windows Update that will do that. Yes, click on the CONTACT US, and explain your error to them. They are very helpful. I have had a few that were a bear to download, but I am on a DUN (dial-up network)

I am sure they will have a work around for you

 

Could always refuse SP3 at the update center and click"Do not show again".
If you feel like you need to have it, download as a seperate item,then install.
