updated daddys computer is there a windows me sp2

while i was at my daddys house yesterday i decided to check and see if his computer needed updating and it did so i went to update it and the update was an update for windows mellinium service pack 1

and i told it to update but my question is is there a windows me service pack 2

 

Unless Microsoft has done something I am not aware of I dont think there is a Service Pack for Windows ME.

There is Service Pack 1, 1a and 2 for Windows XP and Service Pack 1,2,3 and 4 for Windows 2000 but no official ones for Win98/ME.

 

i thought 2000 was windows mellinium edition

Windows ME (Millennium)

Windows 2000

Windows XP

(Win2k & WinXP are built on NT Technology)

If it said there was an update and it was Service Pack 2, it's either WinXP or Win2k, if its Win2k you will need to install Service Pack 4, if its WinXP you will need Service Pack 2.

 

I know some people have made a service pack like file that contained all the fixes in an attempt to simpfly patching those boxes before connecting to the net, but your best bet is windowsupdates.com

 

There are also Service Packs floating around for Windows 98 SE, and I think we have them here, but they aren't official.

You can also get programs that streamline the process, but as already stated, just go to Micro$$oft and download at least all the critical updates.

 

i went to microsoft updates using the shortcut in the start menu

um should i go to that post about the new update site on here cause i dont think dads getting his updates now that thiers a new site

i wasnt getting my updates so i went there and did what it said in that post and i got that new little icon in my start programs and now i just gotta wait till january

 

It's all the same site, if I read your question correctly.

Just go to Windows Update and download all critical updates (Express) at least.

You can either use the link Halo supplied, or the one in your Start Menu.

It will scan your PC and tell you what you need.
