Updates a nightmare

updates currupted my sysstem, very stange. I disabled my windows updates, donno wat had happened to me i enabled them to my surprise when all the updates were downloaded, i installed them, my DVD-Rom stopped working and also many drivers like sound were disabled couldn't even enable them. Had to format my system. DVD-rom was fine when booting and in BIOS, what could be the problem:-o and after formatting i played with my IE-7, when ever i openedew tabs it closes saying IE has generated errors

 

Even when i install SP3, IE7 won't install, after installing IE7 when i install SP3, IE7 get s uninstalled

 

Question for ya what OS are u using? 2 make and model of computer? Know that its windows but which one? How u try to do a clean install of the OS?
