I was checking for updates to some of my installed hardware and found a new update for my 9200 radeon video card, so I mosey over to ati and find there is indeed a new updated driver. Upon reading their following info they say that you should not update a driver unless you are having problems with your video display. Also, along with the new driver update is a downloadable uninstaller program for uninstalling the old driver that they want you to run before installing the updated version. Searching other info sights, every one of them says to update drivers no matter what. Who is right? I have an lcd monitor that is set at 1280 x 1024 and is perfect. However, when I installed sp2 several months ago, the display, when placed at 1280 X 768 seems squeezed. I do not remember this being the case before the sp2 upgrade, but never bothered me because I never use that resolution setting.
Also, if I do decide to update the driver, when I uninstall the previous driver as the first step, doesn't this disable the video display? I'm in a quandary. I need the experts again.
