Updating all programs?

Hi, I recently watched a youtube video about computer security, and it mentioned something about the importance of keeping all your programs updated (i.e. Java, etc...). Does someone know the easiest way to update all my programs at once (or at least, in a short amount of time)? I would like to keep my computer secure. Thank you...

 

I would think something like |MG| Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) would be your best bet.

Updating all of your programs at one time on a regular basis would be difficult since a software vender's scheduled release dates for updates/upgrades aren't syncronized with other venders. And at any given time any given vender may release an out of schedual release due to a serious security flaw or for a serious bug fix. My simple solution has been to check MajorGeeks.Com Home Page regularly. If any updates/upgrades show up for an application I have, I download and install.

I suppose you could always set all of your programs to auto-check-and-update.

 

I second plastidust's recommendation of Secunia PSI.

PSI only scans for missing security updates, and makes it extremely easy to update each out-of-date software.

I think most of us probably agree that it's better to do the updating manually, rather than letting a program do that
in an automated fashion.
