    Greetings Geeks -

The time has come - it has been 2 years. I need to upgrade. My current rig is an AMD Phenom II X4 955. I have it overclocked by 15%. I am running that with a slightly overclocked EVGA 560Ti SC.

I don't need cutting edge stuff. My power supply, case, memory, and video card will go into the new system. I don't really know how much things cost, as it has been two years and I have not kept current with the nomenclature, price, and specs of current hardware. Here is what I am looking to spend, and I might be way off base, but here it goes:

    Motherboard: $100
    CPU: $150

At those prices, would I see a noticeable increase in performance? Is my budget too conservative? Although I prefer AMD (I know they are usually slightly lesser performers in many cases) I am in no way insisting on an AMD upgrade.

I am familiar with Tom's Interactive CPU charts, I will give that a look too. So, what say you Geeks? Thanks for any advice.

    What motherboard for $100?

    What CPU for $150?
We have no clue what these 2 items are.
