Upgrade question !! HELP PLZ

Hey im gonna upgrade my computer's processor from Slot 1 Pentium Celeron 266MHz to a pentium 3 processor (dont have the chip yet).
But i need help because i processor im currently running is a Slot 1 SECC according to CPU-Z and i found a pentium 3 chip i was gonna buy but it said the chip is SECC2 so i dunno what that is so i dunno if i can upgrade it so can someone plz help me with this 1..
soooo... Can i use a SECC2 package?? is there a difference between them???

Should be OK as long as it's a slot 1, and your motherboard has support for Pentium III's.

Check the motherboard/Bios manufacturer's site for compatibility.

 

wat if my motherboard doesn't support PIII??

 

Then you can't use them.

There are converters for some models, but it's not worth the cost.

There may also be a Bios flash that adds support.

Bios flashing should only be a last resort, and only if it resolves an issue you're experiencing.

i got my model i downloaded the file but its an .exe file so how do i use it...
When i start the program ms dos starts and it shows this:
C:\Windows\setver.exe
And closes really fast....

 

It needs to be run in DOS, usually from a floppy.

They almost always have a ReadMe file with instructions, read that.


Be aware that if anything goes wrong, you won't have a PC.
