   my room mate recently got a computer that was given to him because of the flood that we had. It works. but it is windows 98. 166mhz
   is it possible to upgrade. if so would it cost much.

   you would really have to find out what hardware is already installed to get an idea if and what it can be upgraded too.
   
   use a system info tool like EVEREST ( Home ) to id mainly motherboard as thats the main piece of harware that all minor upgrades will revolve around, once you ID the motherboard.. some ideas as to what the max mhz CPU etc etc can be found out.
