With the exception of the memory and cpu, you should be able to recycle all that you mentioned over to your upgrade. Should be a simple transition.

thats what i though; however, my only worry i forgot to mention is its a dell and i think they have custom connection (not sure) but maybe the motherboard side is standard.

i was thinkin of havin it with tri channel DDR3? is that good or did i read it wrong and its standard

You'll need a new motherboard plus RAM as it's DDR3 and you most likely have DDR or DDR2. As to your video card, depends if it's an AGP or PCI-e, AGP is dead for i7's. You might also have to get a new PSU as those things are power hungry. All in all, from the scant info you gave us, you'll probably only be able to reuse your drives and any PCI cards that you may may have like sound or TVtuner. Looks like a new build is in order and it ain't going to be inexpensive! Open your wallet for this one.

i'm ready for it lol i have alot of cash to use.
    ya i was thinkin:

    Asus P6T LGA 1366 Motherboard
Intel Core i7 920 Processor BX80601920 (with CPU Fan)
    Corsair XMS3 Tri Channel 6GB PC10666 DDR3 Memory
Ultra eXo Carbon Fiber ATX Mid-Tower Case
    barebone kit from tigerdirect $1,000

audio is good, video should be ok (if usable) but maybe
HIS Radeon X1550 Video Card - 256MB GDDR2, PCI, Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card
any more thoughts i really appreciate your input

That's a really old video card if your going to be upgrading everything else you should upgrade video too so get a high mid-range card such as Radeon 4800 series or Nvidia GTX series;)

That card is low speced for today's needs, and it's not even PCI-E. That mobo would be wasting it's time running that card when you have dual X16 PCI-E slots on there. I don't know ATI so someone else will have to chime in as I'm an nVidia man.

BTW, does that barebones have a good PSU in there?
