Hello, I have a Dell 390 Desktop I was looking to upgrade. Currently it's running a Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1866mhz and the Mobo is a Dell 0MY510. I went to dell.com in search of upgrades but they just told me they don't support upgrading processors.

I have found a chip that matches my current processor, a Wolfdale Dual core E6400 @2.9ghz Same Socket 775, FSB 1066, and L2 2mb.

Would this work? or could I be missing something? Also anyone know if there's a more adequate chip? I was only in need of around 2.4ghz and my budget cant really fit in this 200.00 price tag.

Depends what your motherboard supports. If dell say it dont the you could buy a new chip and get nowhere if your chipset doesn't support faster chips.

Welcome aboard Neverwind. I assume you want to play some game or other. Let me tell you that you will be wasting your money with that small boost of speed and never be satisfied with its performance, even if it will work with your Dell. They are notorious for making motherboards just good enough. Save the $200 and put it towards a new machine.;)
