upgrading graphics card

so im upgrading my graphics card to a ATi 3870
i just want to know if my PSU will be okay i currently have a 450watt PSU
just a very basic system at the moment really
1 HDD
1 Dual core 4400 AMD
2gb ram
1 optical drive
but i have like 4 LED fans built into my case
would my PSU be okay and handle a 3870
also would i be okay to overclock it and my CPU and would the power still be stable ?

 

Hi, when I upgraded to a geforce 6800 xt a while back it would not work with a 400 watt ps. I ended up putting in a 500watt ps and everything worked just fine. I would get at the very least a 500 watt power supply plus the newer power supply supplies come with SATA power connectors. A good one is less than $50. Rosewill is a good brand.

 

thing is im in UK
and because our goverment is very greedy our tax is rediculas im looking at double that over here
i have a PSU from my old PC anyway i could somehow just use that one for my graphics card or does the 3870 just power off the motherboard because i know the 3870x2 has power inputs
also anyone in britain know cheap website for components ?

A 450W PSU should run a 3870, if it doesn't then you PSU isn't outputing 450W. Also you do need a PCI-E power inputs, but one should come with a molex adapter with you GPU. If you where going to overclock, you may want to look into somewthing alittle more powerful from your PSU

I know for a fact that a 8800GTS 512 (G92) can't play fligh simulator X on full. So it wont manage full, but will get fairly close.

 

i understand close because i know 8800GTX would but with a not so good frame rate because my friend has one
but i have heard amazing things about the 3870
anyone with a saitek x45 or x52 for sale ?
or americans whats the price over there for one ?
and how much would shipping be do you think ?
