Alright guys. So this is how it is.

I need a new video card. My current one is a Sapphire 512mb Radeon X1650 pro. Dispite the 512mb, which allows me to get a really nice picture most of the time, it has a really terrible GPU. So running most games (other than older games) on high settings is often pretty skippy. And forget antialiasing, that just completely rapes me. I mean, I can barely even run Lineage 2 on high without any lag. I'm pretty sure this is because of my card's GPU and not my CPU, but I can't be sure. So, I'll tell you what my CPU is.

My CPU is an AMD Athlon X2 3800+, which is 2.0ghz per core. Not the most amazing CPU, but it shouldn't cause the problems I'm having, it's not terrible either. 4ghz should be plenty, maybe not for Crysis, but for most. RAM could be an issue too, I only have 2gb. (Don't I need something more than XP SP2 if I go 3gb or more of RAM?)

If you want to look at the specs I believe this is it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102781:

So basically. I'm looking for a new setup that doesn't cost me a ton of money (maybe keep it around 125ish at the highest). If it's a video card, one that will fit in place of this one, maybe 1gb memory if at all possible, and a GPU that doesn't completely suck ***. I'd even take a 512mb with a really great GPU over the 1gb, all I want to do is be able to run my games at a normal speed when I have the memory to do it. Also, my cooling system isn't all that great, so no case melting cards either.

Oh, and I have a 500W power supply, if that's relevant at all. Hopefully from all this information someone can figure out my problem.

I'm honestly hoping I'm completely off and I just need more RAM and a new processor. That sure is cheaper.

If you need any more information I can try and dig something up, but I'm pretty inexperienced with all this so I don't know how much I can tell you.

Erm, don't think you have a ram issue, GPU needs upgrading, that will the decide if you need a new PSU, but what ever GPU you get 700w will be the max you would need (however your 500w should be fine unless you get a top end card).

Just look for a good card at the price you want to spend and fit it, you should be fine.

Remember to install the new drivers
