Upgrading Physical Memory

On my Dell Laptop Inspiron 9300. The latop came with 512mb and its just stupid slow. I read some other threads that say there a panel underneath where you can easily access it. Is it a matter of unscrewing the old and screwing the new one in?

What would you guys recommend? 2GB? Anyone in particular?

And doing so wont affect the hard drive memory right? I wont lose anything on my laptop(music/pics/vids)?

 

Go to Crucial and follow their advice, they have an online calculator /fitter for your laptop.

You will not loose anything from the hard drive if you upgrade, you need to beware of static electricity when changing the memory, I see you are from a dry area, it's important to you.

You've seen the calculator and can do the financial sums. Crucial will also tell you how many modules you can fit and so on. Is you 512 2 off 256s or one off 512?
If you added 1 off 1G to a 512 that would probable be enough.

You might also like to look around MG for some other reasons for tardiness, besides white lightening, there are several recent threads dedicated to this.
It would almost cetainly pay to do some optimisation.

Look around then ask away.
