Hello. I would like to upgrade my processor. Currently, I have a p4 1.8. My question is - if my processor has a Northwood core right now, do I have to buy another 'northwood' P4? Or does it matter?

I looked at Newegg.com and they're only selling one type of northwood and it's only 2.66. But there's a lot of Prescott.

I believe it's more what your motherboard will accept. Need much more info before anyone can tell you exactly. The P4 Northwood chips are uo to 3.4ghz I do believe, if your mb supports them is the real question.

I agree with suesman... need more onfo on the mobo!

I'm building a system right now and the board I'm using supports Northwood, Prescott, and Celeron D. So my guess would be that you'd have a few more options other than just Northwood.
