    Hello
    :wave

I am needing to purchase something from a website. It has the "Verisign" logo and says "Secure Payment" next to a padlock.

However, when I press the button to proceed to the checkout, I get this message:

There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website was not issued by a trusted certificate authority.

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address.

Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server. We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website.

When I go to the next page, the website address starts with http (only said that cause I read that's a good sign rolleyes ) but there is no padlock anywhere.

Can I make a credit card payment here without fear? I dont understand - as I said, it says Verisign etc but no padlock, and what's with the above message??

    Please, can anyone help?? thanks.

    confused :cry

you should call them and see if theyre ligit and if thats been happening to other people as well. i dont think there is anything you did configuration wise to your certificate stuff. you kinda have to know how to mess with that. i would think its something with the web site.
best thing to do would be to call them and say you had problems checking out. tell them what it said and stuff.

certificates are just things that are used by web sites to guarentee the site is ligit. VeriSign are the people that do it.

    thanks :)

Ive emailed them numerous times about things, and they are really friendly, polite and helpful.

If it says Verisign, which it does, does that mean things should be ok??

Does it matter if there is NO padlock on the payment details page??

i went to the site and looked around and personally would not trust the site. if i cant call the company and talk to someone, that will usually stop me right there. and i didnt see a telephone number in the contact information. but then again i dont trust the internet at all so...thats just me.

another thing to do is look at the url http://www.vrdrug.com/index.html specifically the http part of it. when youre in the payment place and it dosnt say httpS:// dont do it.

to answer your questions. according to your first post, the verisign certificate was not for that site. that means the site is using a certificate that was given to a site that is actually verified by verisign. big no-no.

and yes, it does matter if the pad lock is on the payment details. verisign would probably not verify the site if the payment page wasnt secure. if you buy from them, there probably will not be anything bad happening to you, but theres no way id ever risk it. its too easy to steal and use that information to give your trust based on an email that was sent to you. never give your trust to emails.

The Certificate issue is mainly a credit Card issue.
However there is here an issue more important than credit card.

Buying prescription drugs over the Internet from a site that is not a real licensed pharmacy, is endangering your health, especially that many of the Advertised drugs are triplicates.

I.e. many states demands the physician to keep track of theses prescriptions and file one copy of the prescription with the a local state agency.

Hence triplicate three copies of the prescription. one goes to the state, one to the pharmacy, and one stays with the physician.

I just got this reply from the website:

We use our SSL cer. not popular SSL therefore Internet Explorer do not
    know it.

But SSL is same standard .(Umm like Brand drugs and Generic drugs are
    the same .)

Does this mean anything to anyone??

What do you mean that the drugs are triplicates??

    Hi

I dont see a VeriSign logo on that site at all just a logo with a padlock and the words secure, if it was VeriSign SSL protected the padlock and a note saying its secure to 128Bit ( common security ) would be in your browsers status info bar. and the VeriSign logo is like this http://www.verisign.com/ssl/index.html

If they say they use their own SSL, and IE doesnt know it.. its likely they have tried to use a stolen one or tried to make one up to seem legit, personally leave the site and do not enter personal details, especially as this company does list an address!

Unless you are sneeky like me and look up US Drug Agency Import alert docs on unapproved drugs being sold and imported into the USA, begs the question if you order a drug.. are you getting the correct one especially from the counterfeit capital of the world!

i did go to the site and place an order to see for myself what was going on. i got the bad certificate notice and kept going. the page that you put your credit card info is NOT secure. the only page that used https was the page or 2 pages before the credit card page.
that site is NOT a good site to put your credit card info in...period. im sure there are valid reasons someone could come up with to say its ok, but its really not. dont risk it.
and what halo said. hes right. you might get something in the right bottle, but whether or not its the right drug is a whole different story.

bottom line, order from the site if you want, but its a really really bad idea.
