OK so here it is kept getting a BSOD yesterday and would just restart the computer and bam it would do it again in 10 minutes couldn't remember downloading anything but started a malaware removal process, as soon as I started CCleaner it stopped at 75 percent and started BSOD and when I restarted It went to the stage 1 of 3 at started CHKDSK all the sudden it was saying corrupted file and deleting files and did that through im guessing whole computer until it got to the end and a blue screen came up saying STOP: c0000218 unknown hard error. Then went restarted and it went to a crazy black screen with blotched colors and all it said was ctrl+alt+del to restart. So I get to boot sequence and start cd rom first put in my dell windows home disk and try to repair using the prompt and all i have really is a chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, I have no rdisk command or fdisk........ So couldnt get that to work so I was just gonna start a new install and that side had a R(repair) so I did that and it installed new drivers and what not, and bingo we access, and all my files are kept background and all, so Im trying to do my online class and I have to write answer and questions down from video, well I try to access office word 2007 and it says patch is not correct? or something and I try my MSoffice 2007 disc and it wouldnt work either so here is the PROBLEM I go to my ERUNT and find a backup from may2010 and try and roll it back to it when I do I restart the computer and now when it boots it goes through all the way till Windows XP loading screen and after it is done it acts like its going to the welcome screen but the screen stays black. I tried going back onto XP disc and now it doesnt have the R option in the new section but does still have Recovery Console, I also tried to access in Safe Mode and it gets stuck everytime its loading on a certain file.

And can you access the recovery console.

If yes, then try chkdsk /r from there.

The next I would try is fixboot c:

Assuming your primary drive is in fact C:

I believe I tried all that but I am going to try it again to make sure, but yes everything up to when it wants to go to the welcome screen where the users icons are boots just fine, cd rom boots, bios works, is there any way to roll it back forward from where I was? also it goes to the screen of boot normally, last known working config, safe mode etc, I tried all of them and they do the same or freeze at certain point

first when I run chkdsk it says volume appears to be in good condition and was not checked, then says use /p to run anyway, so I do and it goes through its normal but says at the end CHKDSK found one or more errors on the volume, are those fixed or do I have to do something else?

Should use the /r parameter, this implies both /f and /p. I never really understood the value of the /p and I'm uncertain what it really does, besides checking the drive even if flagged as not dirty.:confused

tried both commands still goes to blank screen after loading windows xp window, I wonder why it doesnt give me the repair option on the dell xp disc or can I roll it back forward or back further through recovery console
