Urgent Help Needed Access Denied!

Hi few weeks back installed sp2
and my computer never started i reinstalled windows but files where still there
i REALLY REALLY need my document and settings (my docs favs outlook desktop) files
i no its there as i used knoppix to see but i have ntfs so wont let me move to d: and in win xp
every time i try to go in it says access denied i tryed some cmd command when you change the rights but never worked
when making a password for my account i remeber it asking to make folders private and i clicked yes please help!

 

Hopefully "Private" doesn't mean encrypted, but only that NTFS permissions is set so only the actual user have access.

Any Administrator-account on the computer can change the NTFS permissions, and so get access to the folder (If WinXP Home, then you have to boot in safemode to change NTFS permissions)

Hm im on xp pro .... i reinstalled and i need help i really need the files and even with my acccount which is admin account it wont allow

 

You need to change the NTFS-permissions first before your admin account can gain access (Remember to turn off Simple File Sharing in Folder options)
