I am Canadian, I am proud,
The other day an American said to me on line, that Canadians suck. That's OK, I told him to lick me where the good___split me!
Every day I read abot how bad Americans are. So do you.
Well my closest neighbour and friend is the US. So for all you us haters listen up!
There needs to be a globo cop! who else makes sure bad people dont nuke your town?
Cellular telephone are now used all over the planet, invented by Martin Cooper, thanks to american scientists.
Thanks to global trading and the United States, Over 60 countries can afford to eat and get medicine.
The United States produces about 30% of the worlds Gross economy.
If the US ever stopped that trade. It is simple the world would die, at least be ruined!
There is much more that those headlines don't tell, Lots speak as America as war mongrels.
Thats ok, noone likes war, and why should we?
But hell, I'm just a Canadian! I reckon Most Americans don't believe Canadians suck. I'm a little pissed O'd that most Canadians think that Americans suck!
I suppose war will do this, but still.....
    Better Hug your Neighbour!
I cant believe that the two friendliest countries (also free) would belittle eachother like I hear every day.
    Think about it!

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

To broaden Martin Luther King's sentiment a bit... I long for the day when a man is judged by the color of his heart, not the color of his skin, or the color of his flag.

There are good people most everywhere, and also people that suck. Painting entire groups with a broad brush always splashes on the innocent, and simply shows the naivete of the person speaking.

Actually yes there was a war between, it was a hundred years + ago, and Canada won. Otherwise we would not have Quebec and probably most of the East. Thats not the Point.
Face to face Americans and Canadians will smile to one another, but behind the back....Oh my:rolleyes:

If a another human being can display some brain content, has a good heart, and is both friendly and respectful in their demeanor, they are OK in my book, no matter which corner of the planet they occupy!

I have met many Americans that are wonderful people, and for the record, my neighbours back in 92' were Canadian, and were the most friendly and respectful couple, you could hope to meet!

    Regards...

Actually there are some very historic reasons for the animosity both sides feel towards the others. When U.S.A. had it's rebellion against the British Crown many Americans who disagreed with the rebels fled to Canada, after that came the black American slaves, and after that the draft dodgers from the Vietnam war.

So for those that like to bear a grudge for generations, that is their excuse. there is also "Old" jealousy on both sides.

Having lived in the U.S.A. for over six years, I have seen the good and bad side of American life, but I have also seen the good and bad sides of Canadian life, neither is perfect.

That said "I am a proud Canadian" and I truly like my Southern Neighbours, just not toooo fond of that character "Bush" though, he has done more to turn other nations against America, than anybody else. But his group is a very small segment of American Society, and like other phases this one to will pass.

Side Note:- Take this forum, there are lots of Canadians, Americans, Brits, and our friends down under, and not once have I heard anyone here malign anyone for their nationality, and there have been some "Hot" threads but not once has it digressed to name calling. Hey maybe we should have Major Geeks be the world leader!!!!

I have 4 younger brothers. Two of those brothers got brides from the USA. They are beautiful, friendly, intelligent, women and I wouldn't dare bad-mouth the USA in front of either of them. I let them do the bad mouthing, and believe me when I tell you, I would never talk about George W. the way those gals do. They both still have themselves registered to vote in their home towns and are making the trip back to the USA to unseat some of Georgy's pals. In My Opinion, USA citizens are good. USA science and engineering are good. The rest of it needs plenty of work. The worst part of living next to the USA is that big business corruption, government corruption, and disrespect for the law is gradually permeating my own society. It's as if "they're doing it, so why can't I?" crap that you hear from 6 year olds. At one point in my career, I logged over 120,000 miles in travel to and from the US on business. I was always treated with respect and often the sugar and syrup of compliments were too rich for my Northern blood. Compare that to the derision, I've received while attempting to speak French to order breakfast in la belle province of Quebec, I may only conclude that French Canadians are bad people. They can be nasty little buggers when they want to poke a stick in the ribs of an Anglophone.:) No tip for you!!!

Any where you go there is always a bungehole around the corner....world wide....no matter if your from England...Canada....U.S.....but I can say here in N.Y. darn if there isnt alot of rednecks.......lol

You probably also thought you could ski up here in July and that we live in igloos. :p

I have to disagree with Jazagod's appraisal of the state of current affairs between our two countries as far as normal folk are concerned.

There are some real sticky points as to softwood lumber and beef trade and it doesn't sit well up here but it's the real people that count to me. You'll always find an a*hole anywhere you go. (This wasn't pointed at you Jazagod). :)

  13. Jazagod

    Jazagod Command Sergeant Major

    No offence taken, :) .
quite the point on the lumber thing, thankfully were not getting into the fishing thing!!
I was quite appalled to the french Canadian post. Not all french Canadians dont deserve a "tip". That is like saying any one who speaks english(because you had a run in) is an arse. Quebecers may be a bit hasty, but definatly not bad people...now Albertans on the other hand...(so kidding LOL)

The thing that makes Canadians a more than a little testy in my experience has been when they get treated like they are just northern country Americans, or maybe just the 51st state, up north.

  15. Jazagod

    Jazagod Command Sergeant Major

I think its funny the way "up north " is used. not just by phantom, but always.
This year our our Sothern brothers got snow first. It is true that some believe Canada is a frozen waste land, like Russia....HAHAHAHA
lol..brb, got to warm up the dog sled , on the way to the store so i can barter me a blanket.

Actually I took a Canadian history course in College (Went to school in Plattsburgh NY). Very interesting indeed.. I learned all about igneous rock, basalt, pyroclastic flows, glacially terraformed geologic formations and deposits oh.. and moose ;) or is it meese.. :p

They even mentioned that people lived there as well..we were all like " WTF!! , who would live there.. it's all rock!! "

Yep, we completely skipped the stories about General Wolfe, Acadian history etc.. :D

    </end sarcasm>

  17. Phantom

    Phantom Brigadier Britches

Eh, they say the same thing here in Aust. Anything north is "up", anything south is "down", which is really, really confusing to this guy that has spent most of his life in the northern hemisphere, which case everything in this country is "down-under", so to speak. Must be why my sense of direction is lousy ever since we moved here. least ways, that's my excuse. :p

Out of all the questions i could ask:rolleyes:lol :D

the reason north is up and south is down is because they are usually positioned that way on maps.

Canada is part of the Commonwealth, that'll get ya extra points. :)

Sure, but the question is - "Why is The North direction on top, and south on the bottom in maps?" It's not as if everyone is going to fall off if south was on the top. ;)

I love America,if it wasnt for America I doubt I'd watch TV at all,I wouldnt be on this forum, hell probably not on the internet, pretty much all my fav PC games are made in america, all the best movies,I wouldnt have seen michael Jordan play and hence not played for the school basketball team and probably stayed a little porker, there'd be no supercross,no drag racing,no guns and roses,no hasselhoff,no baywatch,no moon landings, space exploration "well maybe a bit",the nazis would have won, burger king, pizza hut....

Canada has that cool psychic mountie detective, thats all I know :)

I've said it before. I like America (ergo, U.S.A.). I like most Americans. I went to college in the U.S., and became a citizen of that great nation, (courtesy of my mom's side). One day I may return (be afraid!). Some of my happiest days, there.

Also a lot of thing I like aboot Canada and Canadians, eh. ;) Another place I wouldn't mind retiring.

So you cut down more trees, have more larger bodies of water than us, hike longer than us, and dont live in a racist society. And you have better tv than us.

Most of that isnt true and in fact, I never meant to say Canadians are inferior to Americans, meant to say that I hate Canada for having a better hockey team than everyone else ;)
