USB 2.0 ports

Hi,
I have been having this problem of my ports not recognizing them as 2.0. I'm getting fed up with that annoying message saying this device can work faster. All ports work and all say they are 2.0. Why does this message appear?????

I have xp pro SP3 installed. I believe I have all the updated drivers to my mother board!!! I have a compaq presario SR1517CL which still runs great!!!

I have went into the bios and usb legacy mode support is set to auto.

It says my bios revision is 3.15 10/19/2005

But that means my update did not take??? or is that the year it was made.

I know I could just shut off that annoying message but if it's not working correctly I would prefer to fix it.:cool

If anyone knows how to resolve this problem. Please help....

 

I had the same thing using Blackberry software,got rid of the Blackberry and their software. ed

 

I do not have blackberry software!!!

 

Forgot to add, the extension cable that you are using may be the problem, some arent up to the task. ed

 

If you open Device Manager and expand the section for Universal Serial Bus Controllers, does the title of one or more of the items listed there have the word "enhanced" in it? If not, your system is not functioning at the USB 2.0 standard. On the other hand, if at least one of the titles does have "enhanced" in it, then that means your computer should support USB 2 devices.

Do you see any exclamation marks in a yellow triangle in Device Manager?

 

There are no exclamation errors in device manager! Yes there is 1 enhanced usb. All usb ports on front and back state they are 2.0. I don't think it's the wire it does it with any device I plug in.
