USB 2.0 without SP1?

does anyone know if its possible to get the USB 2.0 driver installed without installing SP1 on windows XP Pro?

I waited forever to install SP1 to begin with, and when i did... i got nothing but errors and malfunctions where there should be none... even after countless reformats and clean installs of SP1.... so i'm now back to good old XP before SP1, and did most of the updates manually as best i could tog et rid of the security flaws.

i know most of you will just tell me to install SP1... but until sp2 is released... i'm not budging

so am i pretty much at a loss for USB 2.0 until then?

what sort of issues was SP1 causing.

 

its an onboard USB2.0 controller in an A7N8x-Deluxe
the usb2.0 installation file is simply a text document saying the driver is included in SP1.


@kodo, first think i realized were codec errors for Divx and Xvid, which I eventually overcame with 'ffdshow' in addition to the previous codec packs i had installed pre SP1.

in addition, i started having severe problems with OpenGL in games that i had always played before. I am not sure if SP1 would have anything to do with OpenGL, but the problems still occured after many reformats (installing windows updates with SP1 before installing the games). sometimes after a clean reformat OpenGL would work, and then give me critical errors and fail every time after. (direct3D never stopped working)


also, explorer seemed to crash for no given reason time after time with sp1.

it may just have been my setup... but all i know is without SP1 everything is working like a charm.
