usb device not recognized

this problem just started happening. I have used this connection for my camera for several years, but now it shows

USB device is not recognized

Can anyone please help? I am connecting my Canon powershot s1 IS digital camera. I have put the driver disc in and it shows that I have what I need installed.

 

Try using another usb port. ed

 

Did you install anything else on your computer recently?
Can you use a flash drive / data stick?
Have you tried going back to an earlier system restore point which predates the problem?

I have tried all of them and the problem still happens.

If you go to -start- programs-accessories-systems tools-system restore, you will get to system restore, pick a date when your system worked ok and restore to that date. Let us know. ed

 

I tried what you suggested, same error occured. I tried a day before the last time I had downloaded pictures. Thanks for the idea, any other ones. Thanks
