Alright, I'm new, and I think this is the closest place to where my problem should go in the forums.

first off, my system runs Windows 7 Pro.
    further information upon request.

    My problem is thus:

    I bought one of these:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812999116

and it came with a cd for setting the function of the buttons, though its very limited in its aspects.
I think the problem is, my computer recognizes it as a keyboard, and each time I press the first button, it types the number '1'
and the second button types '2'

I also found third party software to set the button's function to whatever keyboard key I want, but, I was hoping when I bought this thing, that it would be a new set of buttons, not sharing any scan-codes or registries with any previous devices.

there must be some way to configure this thing to be recognized as a new independent device with isolated functions.

    thank you for any assistance.
