hello again i found this on a webpage
    1. This is the product: http://www.trust.com/products/default.htm?artnr=13070
This product has no drivers supplied- windows xp apparently has them.
    2. I have XP SP1 installed as you can probably tell by the enhanced USB drivers installed.
    3. I wont install SP2 coz I have experienced so many problems with it as well as a lot of my friends.
    4. I have powered up the hub by a 2.3 - 3.0v DC power supply. Red power lights up.
    5. Plugging it into any of my USB ports turns the green light on.
6 Both lights can be on simultaneously.
    7. Although windows detects it as a Generic USB Hub and tries to install it , i am giving a dialog prompt installation wizard.
    8. After many times of going round in circles it says there are problems with the device.
9 . I have uninstalled the hub in Safe Mode and rebooted back to normal mode. Still problems.
    10. All my USB ports have been tested and are fully operational - i have USB mouse, USB digital camera.
    11. The BIOS is the most recent for the motherboard.msi

Problem I noticed, is the external power is not enough, according to the pdf manual from the site, also usb requirements, you need at least 5vdc.

Usually, by connecting an external power supply, the hub does not accept power from the usb port that it is connected to, so with not enough power, it will not work correctly.

Until you get a 5vdc power supply, try unplugging the external power, and see if it works on usb provided power. It might not though because you seem to have allot of devices connected to usb.

Right click on the device, uninstall it then plug the device back in again.

Make sure you test it with only one device.... that would rule out too many devices connected.

USB does indeed require 5V DC, check the ampage required on the PDF. (it depends on what connected to it and how much they draw from the USB power rail).

Did you check "look on windows update for drivers"?

I hate to say this but I think this is somthing fixed by SP2. There is a new UsbHub.sys version in SP2, which may fix this.

Just to clarify, you ARE using a 5V supply, not the 2-3V you stated in the original question.....
